Reflection’s Edge, the e-zine for thoughtful readers and writers, is an online publication with two major aims: to house good fiction, and to help writers improve their writing. The focus of the fiction section of RE is on genre fiction which many “literary” magazines do not accept (i.e., sci-fi, fantasy, horror, mystery, the supernatural, westerns, adventure, magical realism, erotica (not pornography), fables—all non-mainstream fiction). Our resources section for writers covers everything from science fiction world building to recognizing and fixing grammar mistakes. Many of these articles were written expressly for the site; some are off-site article links; some are links to actual books. Regardless, our focus is excellence in writing.
RE has had various publishing schedules, but is currently published six times a year, once monthly from June through October, and a holiday issue in late December, with some single-story or article publications sprinkled throughout the year.
We currently have between 2,000 and 3,000 readers each issue and 20,000 and 30,000 hits per month. Most of our readers are from the US, UK, CA or Australia, although we have readers from Sweden to Hong Kong as well, about 25 countries in all.
The New Look
In June of 2009, we debuted a brand new Reflection’s Edge. Among other new things, our website is now faster, cleaner, easier to run, and massively linked so that almost any category you click on—author, genre, category, month—will instantly take you to a list of all pieces by that author, or stories in that genre, category, month, etc. There’s also an RSS feed, in addition to everything that has always made RE great: fiction, nonfiction articles about writing, resources, and book reviews.

Joshua Moses’ story Possession was named a Notable Story of 2004 by Story South. This story was featured in our first issue, December 2004.
